Use a damp cloth to blot up spills as soon as they happen. For tough spots such as oil paint markers lipstick ink or tar use acetone nail polish remover on a clean white cloth. If it is dirty then it s no longer absorbing the dirt and oils that the steam loosens and instead is just pushing them around. Avoid oil based cleaners as they can leave streaks that are impossible to get rid of.

Be sure to dry the floor immediately after steam cleaning with a clean dry microfiber cloth or mop. Always remove grit sharp objects staining agents moisture or aggressive substances from the floor.
